Molineuf is a charming village of 830 inhabitants. First Roman fort, then a strategic point along the Cisse river between the Loir and the Loire rivers, in the 16th century it was the site of the first Renaissance Castle to be built in France by Florimond Robertet, which was later copied on a grander scale when King François 1st built the nearby Chambord Castle.
La Promenade Artistique of Molineuf is a 'musée sans murs' - an art gallery without walls. Financed by the city council and private sponsors, it has a dual objective: the promotion of the village and contemporary art by creating an opportunity to appreciate art in a new and surprising way while enjoying the beauty of village itself. La Promenade artistique has been organized on the second and third weekends of September for the last 6 years. In 2011 La Promenade Artistique of Molineuf welcomes 41 artists.
